Charles “Chuck” Thomas Brence passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on September 13, 2022. Chuck was born in Vancouver, WA to Philo and Betty Brence, being the oldest of his 3 other siblings. He is a child of God, husband, father of 3, step-father, and grandfather of 7.
Chuck proudly served in the US Navy as an air traffic controller. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, he got on with Pacific Power in Medford, OR. Eventually he transferred to Klamath Falls in March of 1984 where he married Cher in 1987 and enjoyed 35 years of marriage. Family was extremely important to him and being involved with his children was exhibited in his 10 years of coaching his daughters at South Suburban Little League, cheering on his step-son at baseball games and wrestling events, and our annual family camping vacations each year.
We will miss so much his warm easy smile, his laughing eyes and bantering with his grandchildren. We will never forget his humor (“pull my finger”), typical antics like pretending to eat a spider and accidentally eating it anyway, and embarrassing his daughters by mimicking Pee Wee Herman at the grocery store. He always had his kid persona bubbling right under the surface waiting for any opportunity to let loose. We will miss him trying to fix something that wasn’t broken to begin with and having to call a professional to get it working again. He never hesitated to tell us he loved us. He was well loved and he loved well.
Those that have gone on before him and welcomed him Home are his parents Philo and Betty Brence, daughter Angela Brence, sister LaDonna Eagleton, and brother Hank Brence.
Those remaining family members who will cherish his memories are Cher Brence (wife), Megan Brence (daughter), BreAnn (daughter) and Jimmy Ulrey, Robert Briggs (step-son), grandchildren Madison Garlitz, Rhiannon Briggs, Rheyana Briggs, Fayth Taylor, Elijah Jefferson, Josey Ulrey, and Aurora Briggs, Debbie (sister) and Ray Beal, and Jeff Brence (uncle and honorary brother).
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Living Faith Fellowship, 4549 Homedale Rd, Klamath Falls, OR. In leu of flowers, consider making a memorial donation to Tunnels to Towers (t2t.org) or the American Brain Tumor Association (abta.org).
