Gary Buehler passed away on September 21 at the age of 75. He was born April 24, 1951 in Lima, New York to Karl and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) (Lowe) Buehler.

The family moved from upstate New York to Idaho, Washington, and finally settled in the Willamette Valley in Oregon in 1966. Gary graduated from Stayton High School in 1969 and was an avid skier and adventurer. He married his high school sweetheart, Christine, in 1970. Gary attended barber school in Salem before getting into carpentry and construction - eventually starting his own business, Buehler Carpentry Co. in 1978. After 20+ years in the carpentry business, Gary moved from the Willamette Valley to Hood River and worked in various occupations, one of which was a maintenance supervisor for the county. After retirement, Gary continued to mentor, work, and keep himself busy with projects and more.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Karl and Betty, siblings Bonnie, Karl Jr., and Mari. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christine (Royse) Buehler of Hood River, Oregon; daughters Sierra Buehler of Salem, Oregon and Kristle Buehler of Parkdale, Oregon; son Logan (Melissa) Buehler of White Salmon, Washington; granddaughters Adelyn Royse and Emarie Grace, and many nieces and nephews.

Spending time with family was important to Gary. After raising his own three children, he had a special bond with his granddaughters who brought him immense joy. Gary supported his granddaughters Adelyn - and fellow leftie Emarie - by attending their athletic competitions, school events, and even a sailing trip or two.

Gary always had a love for adventure and the outdoors - spending many years on Keuka Lake in upstate New York as a kid, hiking and skiing in Eastern Oregon when the family lived in Walla Walla, skiing at Mt. Bachelor during his teenage years, working on the 10 acre property on Echo Hill which included building the family home, family skiing trips to HooDoo, family camping trips to Big Lake and Diamond Lake, sailing the Columbia River on his 27 foot sailboat, and yearly visits to a remote fishing village in Mexico over the last 18 years.

Many of Gary's adventures over the last 55 years included his wife Christine, other family members, and friends he made along the way that became like family to him. Gary was an ultimate people person who loved to attend local gatherings in the communities of Hood River, Ocean Park, and Ft. Klamath where he spent his last few years.

Gary was a kind soul who was always ready to lend a helping hand. There was a way that things needed to be done... the right way, the wrong way, or the "Buehler Way"... but did it always get done? Gary brought light, laughter, and boundless love into everyone's lives. His spirit will live on in the memories of everyone who knew him. The family would like to thank everyone who was a part of his life - who he connected with - and who supported him.
