Marye June Ashcraft was born on June 5, 1935 to Vinna Lambert and David Baxter in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was the eldest of six children, sculpting her nurturing and caregiving character. Marye and her family moved to California for a short time when she was a young child, and then relocated to Ashland, Oregon. Marye graduated from Ashland High School and married Robert “Bob” Ashcraft, joining him on his military journey. The military gave them a chance to explore living in places like Alaska and Georgia before they settled back in Ashland to be closer to family.
Bob and Marye welcomed two beautiful children, Robert “Bobby" and Joyce, and their newly wed home of two grew to a full family of four.
While Bob continued his career at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Marye began helping at Fairhaven Elementary to be near her children. She later went on to build a very successful career in real estate, holding the title of a Real Estate Broker for 36 years. Marye found so much joy in helping others find homes to make memories with their families. She also loved being able to work right alongside her daughter, Joyce. Marye received many accolades during her career, including the “Realtor of The Year” award in 2010. Being a part of the community and helping others was very important to Marye. She was a member of several organizations, including Soroptimist of Klamath Falls. Through her work and community service, Marye made many friends – some she even called family. She retired from real estate in 2014.
After Marye and Bob divorced, she spent her remaining years with her dearest, Chuck Greene. Together, the couple enjoyed traveling to places like Australia and Hawaii, playing golf and going to the AT&T Golf Tournament in Pebble Beach each year, fishing on the ocean just outside of Brookings, Oregon, and more.
If Marye wasn’t playing golf, she enjoyed gardening, getting out in nature, and cooking up new recipes for her family. There was always something in the oven or prepping on the stove. Marye was best known for her Strawberry Jam and her Blackberry Cobblers.
In addition to her two children, Marye had one biological granddaughter, but if you asked her, she had three: Kelsey, the daughter of Joyce, and Nichole and Spencer, who she "adopted." As anyone who knew her could imagine, Marye was a tremendous grandparent, thoughtfully planning camping trips, weekends full of homemade pancakes and hand picked strawberries, and memorable adventures that her grandchildren will forever cherish.
Marye was an incredible woman. Strong, independent, loving, kind. To her, family was everything and she spent her life dedicated to giving and caring for others. She blessed so many hearts with her positive light and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Marye is survived by her daughter, Joyce; her daughter Kelsey; her sister Jackie and family; her brother Jimmy. She is now reunited with her son, Bobby, and family. In light and with love.
