Merry K. (Deasy) Blankenship

Merry Kathleen (Deasy) Blankenship Sunrise June 13, 1944 - Sunset July 21, 2020 Merry K. (Deasy) Blankenship has gone to meet Our Lord. She passed away at her home surrounded by family on July 21, 2020. Merry was born June 13, 1944 in Torrance, Calif. to William and Muriel (Hanon) Deasy. At a young age, Merry took ballet and singing lessons and was a child performer with her brother Mike who played the guitar. They were a very popular duo in California! Merry enjoyed spending time with her grandparents. Her grandmother Maude taught her to sew and she enjoyed it throughout her life. She left a legacy of love for sewing to her children and grandchildren. After graduating From Torrance high school, Merry acquired her cosmetology license in California. Merry married Joseph H. Ray in May 1963 and had four beautiful children together. They are: Kelly, Melinda, Ramona and Joseph. The family moved from California to Newell, Oregon in 1972., during which time Merry operated her own hair salon in Tulelake Ca. In 1986 the family moved to Cottage Grove, Or. where Merry attended Lane Community College and achieved her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She worked as a traveling nurse in Dallas and Salem area. Merry moved back to Klamath Falls in 1997 to take care of both of her parents until their passing and started her life anew. Merry married Anthony Blankenship and lived with him in Klamath Falls until her passing. Merry’s creative gifts were abundant. She enjoyed singing in church, playing the piano, excelled at painting, sewing and any creative challenge. Along with her creativity, she loved the outdoors throughout her life. Some examples were camping, traveling and especially fishing. Merry enjoyed baking, cooking and created new recipes that she shared. She also won awards at local fairs for her cooking and preserving talents. She is survived by her daughters; Kelly Eastman, Melinda Bench, Ramona Treat. Her partner, Anthony Blankenship. Her brother, Mike Deasy. She also leaves a legacy of eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Merry was sadly preceded in death by her son, Joseph Ray, and her parents Muriel and William Deasy. A graveside service is at Malin Community Cemetery, Friday, July 24, 2020 at eleven a.m. A special thank you to High Desert Hospice for their professional and excellent care. Additionally a very special thank you to the Willamette Cancer Research Institute, Dr Joseph Fiarillo. His personal attention and overall professionalism was above reproach.
