Peggy M Stivers, 100, passed away on September 18, 2022. She was born October 1921 to Gustaf and Olive Johnson, on Pacific Terrace in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The family lived on California Avenue during the school years and at the family cabin "Roamers Roost" during the summer on Recreation Creek by Rocky Point on Klamath Lake. Peggy attended Riverside school and graduated from KU with the class of 1939.
Peggy enjoyed outdoor activities, horseback riding, skiing, rowing and hiking. Which was helpful when her parents opened a girls camp at Harriman Lodge in the late 30's. It was a special time working with her parents and siblings at the lodge. Peggy was at OSU when Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7, 1941, changing the course of many lives, hers included. Beginning in 1956 she spent the next years living and running Harriman Springs Resort until it was sold in 1995.
In 1962 she had an "unforgettable" ski trip to the Austrian, Italian and French Alps. Throughout her life she enjoyed knitting and found it relaxing. She liked the winters here when we used to get lots of snow. Later in life she was able to take many road trips with her granddaughter exploring the US and Canada. She was a good example of showing kindness and cheerfulness to her family and others all of her life. She wanted everyone to know what her mother told her "keep the corners up" (smile). In 1971 she found great comfort and hope when she learned about the Bible and continued learning the rest of her life as on of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by her daughters; Karon Bowker of Sunriver, Or, and Jackie (Bob) Smith of Klamath Falls, Or. Grandchildren; Todd (Bethany) Bowker of Salt Lake, Ut., John Bowker of Sunriver, Or., Kimberly Bowker of Bend, Or., 6 great grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews; Sue (Jim) McNealy, Ron Hotchkiss, Nilene Johnson, and Art Arnel, cousin; Leanard (Maureen) Ault, and many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Gus and Olive Johnson, son; Robert Sloan III, and siblings; Barbara Arnel, Maxine Hotchkiss and William Johnson.
We would like to thank Klamath Hospice for their care and consideration. Also want to thank Peggy's caregivers and friends, Sharon and Debbie, for their invaluable time they spent with Peggy.
No services will be held at this time per Peggy's request, Peggy's interment was at Klamath Memorial Park.
