Phyllis Kollmar

January 23, 1942 — June 21, 2025

Phyllis Kay Kollmar peacfully went fishing, June 21, 2025.

Phyllis was born to Leland Beverly Holt and Audrey May Holt on January 23, 1942. As she would say "47 days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor." She joined her sister, Beverly Adele and a few short years later her brother James Ernest joined them. She was born in Nova Scotia and raised in Fortuna, California. As a child, she spent a large portion of her life in Myrtle Point, Oregon, with the Davenport side of the family. During her grade school years she was named "Queen of the May pole" as part of the May Day celebration.

After graduation from high school, she studied ornamental horticulture at the College of the Redwoods. In 1960 she married Gerald Arthur Garcelon. They welcomed Jerry Arthur Jr., James Leland, Jeffery Michael, and Glen Thomas. During her marriage to Gerald she was an active member of the Cowbelles social group, where she was names California's Cowbelle of the year.

Phyllis and Gerald divorced in 1977. Shortly after their divorce was final, their oldest son Jerry was killed in a farming accident in Bonanza, Oregon.

Phyliss married Edward Leland Kollmar on April 9, 1977. They lost a daughter, Angel the following year. In October of 1979, they welcomed a daughter Mehri Kathleen.

During the years of their marriage they enjoyed many camping trips for fishing and visited many national parks. Many trips wer made to Willow Lake and Sunset Bay out of Charleston, Oregon. For Glen's graduation, the family made a trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. During this trip, Phyllis famously found "almost a bear" when she saw a rock that looked similar. Many nights were spent playing cribbage and pinochle with nieces and nephews, Richard, Teresa, Elden and Paula and close family friends; Ronnie and Sherrie Schroeder. Laughter always filled the home.

In January of 2003,her life changed again with the loss of the love of her life, Ed. To help her with her grief, she spent time with her friends "the golden girls" Marti and Darlene. Many hours were spent at the Leatherneck Club and VFW. The rolls that she made for the VFW are still talked about to this day.

Phyllis had a great love for her family. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. She found pride when talking about the accomplishments of her grandchildren and dearly loved her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband ED, sons; Jerry, Jeffrey and Glen and daughter Angel.

She is survived by her son James (Elaine) Garcelon, daughter; Mehri (Joseph) Scott, Grandchildren; Kaleb Lakey, Shayla Lakey, Zakary Lakey, Michaela (Justin) Krieger, Thomas Garcelon, Clara Garcelon, and Ryder Garcelon. Great Grandchildren; Lincon and Madeline Krieger and Mateo Lakey. There are far too many other family members and friends to mention, just know that she held you all so close to her heart and thought of you often.

A memorial service will be held in the future both in Klamath Falls, Oregon and Myrtle Point, Oregon.
