Wilma (Billie) Faye Hagerman, born October 11, 1941, in Boise, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, during heart surgery.
Billie was raised in the small community of Daggett Creek, Idaho, the third of four sisters. Her childhood was shaped by the simplicity and closeness of rural life, attending a one-room schoolhouse where her mother served as her teacher and her father drove the school bus. She attended Boise State and then worked for Boise Cascade, a position that led to her transfer to Portland, Oregon, where she met her future husband, Bud. In 1972, she and Bud moved their family to Klamath Falls, where they made their home and raised their family.
For 58 devoted years, she and Bud built a life together, raising two daughters and later welcoming two grandchildren into their home. In retirement, she and Bud, often with grandchildren in tow, set out in their fifth-wheel trailer to explore nearly every corner of the country, embracing the adventure of the open road together.
A gifted pastel, pencil, and painting artist, Billie became well known in the Klamath community. Many of her pieces hang in homes and galleries throughout the area, each reflecting her ability to see and capture beauty with gentleness and grace. Through her art, she continues to quietly enrich the lives of many.
She was an active and faithful member of the United Evangelical Free Church, where her faith was nurtured and shared with others.
She is survived by her husband, George (Bud) Donald Hagerman; her daughters, Karen Hagerman and Louise Fletcher; her grandchildren, John Hagerman-Fletcher, Ethan Fletcher, Alysha Schilling, Jacob Fletcher; and her great-grandchildren, Tristan Schilling, Bailey Schilling, George Hagerman, and Caleb Benedict. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the United Evangelical Free Church, 3333 Beverly Dr, Klamath Falls, OR 97603.
She will be remembered for her steady faith, her artistic gifts, her devotion to family, and the quiet strength that defined her life. She painted beauty into the world and into our lives, and that beauty will remain with us always.
